Joseph Pistone is a FBI agent.
He works undercover in the New York Mob trying to convince the criminals he is their best friend.
He calls himself Donald - Donnie - Brasco and claims he is a jewel thief from Florida who would like to get some contact in the Mob.
And Benjamin "Lefty" Rueggiero here is a long time member of the Mob and rather interested in getting in contact with that there young man sitting up at the bar.
But "Donnie" starts by telling "Lefty" that the diamond ring he has got in lieu of some money is a "fugazie" - a fake, that is. And "Lefty" gets rather miffed ...
You just donīt show so little respect for a "made man"
"Lefty" has killed 27 men during his time in the Mafia and might get it into his head to kill number 28 ...
One has to show "the flag" ...
Even though one is freezing important body parts off while doing so ;-)

You have to show you are a mand in the Mob and be ready to shoot anybody you just suspect of having cheated you - or at the very least have made a grave mistake ...
Please remind me never to become a member of the mob ...
The Mob donīt allow their members to have a mustache or wear jeans ...
Come to think of it - Johnny Depp wouldnīt fit very well in the Mob either :-D
A "made man" does not have his money in a wallet. He wears them in a roll with the largest on the outside like he has too many money to be careful about them ...
"Donnie" never gets his money back. But "Lefty" gives him an invaluable education in what is what and who is who in the Mob.
"Donnie" is trying very hard to make his relation ship with "Lefty" work ...
His relationship with his family is unfortunately not going that fabulous.
Joseph is almost never there and his wife have to handle things herself - which of course makes Joseph feel left out ...
Still - they love each other and try to make things work :-)
It doesnīt help though when "Donnie" in order to learn more about the Mob lures a rather willing "Lefty" into going to Florida and open up a nightclub - as if there wasnīt enough of those down there - in Miami Beach.
And they certainly do have fun. Going to the dog track to do a little betting among other things.
But "Lefty" looses as ususally ;-)
He is only too please with his young attentive "apprentice" though :-)
"Lefty" canīt quite figure out why the rest of the gang is so eager to bask in the sun and swim in the pool.
He just wants a fresh start down here in the new surroundings.
"Donnie" doesnīt want a new start ... He would be happy if he could just keep up the relationship with his family,
... even if it has to be over the phone.
"Donīt say a word, Donnie - our lawyers will get you out in no time!"
All ends in arrests.
But "Lefty" is still convinced "Donnie" is his very good friend who will live up to "omerta" and not say a word even though he has still not been "straightened out"
