This is Gilbert Grape.
He is born on the wrong - read, poor - side of the track in the small American town called Endora.
Gilbert is a very serious young man who takes his responsabilities in life - yes, well, serious.
Gilbert has a retarded little brother Arnie who sometimes behave more like he is five than seventeen like he really is.
"Some days you want him to live and some days you donīt ..."
Luckily for both of them Becky comes to town and starts to taw Gilbert up a bit.
Arnie tells Becky he is a working miracle and that she is not invited to his birthday.
Gilbert hushs him - he wants his family to look good in her eyes. But Becky takes it quite calmly.
It isnīt always that easy to be Gilbert ...
Becky and Gilbert doesnīt have that much money, so they have to make due with the free pleasures - like looking at a beautiful sunset.
... eh - I would look at Gilbert too if I was Becky :-)
Gilbert suggests that Arnie - being a big boy now - could wash himself, so Gilbert could go back to the sunset and Becky.
All the Grapes driving back from the police station after the police arrested Arnie for repeatedly having climbed the little townīs water tower.
Gilbert and his mother tries to find out why things keep going wrong for the little family.
